When Crisis Blurs Your Vision: Fix Your Eyes on Jesus
Have you ever felt powerless in a crisis? Two of Jesus’s followers on the road to Emmaus faced this when they mourned His death but failed to recognise Him walking beside them (Luke 24:14–16). According to Dr Michael Youssef, distress can blur our vision and shut us off from the help God provides. The disciples focused on their loss and missed the living Christ. But once they recognised Jesus, everything changed. “Within the hour” they returned to Jerusalem, transformed from fear to courage, pain to joy, and despair to hope. Paul reminds us to pray for enlightened hearts (Ephesians 1:18). When we shift our gaze from our problems to Jesus, our vision clears and we are filled with hope.
