Ranked: Africa’s 20 Largest Banks by Total Assets
Africa’s largest banks collectively hold hundreds of billions of dollars in assets, reflecting their influence on lending, infrastructure financing, government funding and consumer banking across the continent. According to the African Business Top 100 Banks ranking, Standard Bank Group of South Africa leads with $174.3 billion in assets. National Bank of Egypt follows with $169.3 billion, while FirstRand ranks third at $93.9 billion. South African, Egyptian and Moroccan banks dominate the top positions. Nigeria is represented by UBA, Zenith Bank and Access Bank, which rank among Africa’s 20 biggest banks by total assets. Figures were converted to US dollars for easier comparison.
