Fully Funded Commonwealth Fellowships Open for Nigerian Professionals and Academics

Applications are open for the 2026/27 Commonwealth Fellowships for eligible Nigerian mid-career professionals and university academics. The fully funded UK programme includes Professional Fellowships and Academic Fellowships, with the deadline set for 25 August 2026 at 4:00pm BST. Professional Fellowship applicants need at least five years of relevant work experience. Academic Fellowship applicants must hold a PhD and be employed by an eligible university outside the UK. Applicants must also be citizens or recognised refugees of an eligible Commonwealth country and intend to return to their organisation after the fellowship. Fellowships last between six weeks and three months, depending on the category. Support includes return airfare, visa-fee reimbursement, a monthly living allowance, an arrival allowance and approved programme-related travel. Applicants should show how their proposal supports a development theme such as health, innovation, technology, governance, crisis response or inclusion. Interested candidates should prepare their references, personal statement, development-impact statement and relevant academic or professional documents early. Applications should be submitted through the official Commonwealth Scholarship Commission application portal before the deadline.
