NELFUND Plans Parent Portal to Prevent Double Payment of Students’ Tuition Fees
NELFUND says it will introduce a portal that allows parents to confirm whether their children’s tuition fees have already been paid through the student-loan scheme. Parents will use a matriculation number to view the payment status without seeing sensitive financial details. The fund said the move is aimed at stopping duplicate tuition payments, where students receive a NELFUND-backed payment while also collecting school-fee money from parents. NELFUND also plans a digital wallet system that will send approved tuition payments directly to each student’s institution. The system is being piloted and is expected to be rolled out for the 2026/2027 academic session.
