Army Launches Search Operation After Kidnap Victim Escapes in Abia
The Nigerian Army has launched a search and rescue mission in Abia State after Mr. Bright Ochinachi, 40, escaped from his captors. He was abducted on March 15 along the busy Umuahia–Aba road, where gunmen also stole his vehicle. After his escape, Mr. Ochinachi reported the incident to army personnel in Isiala Ngwa. Troops immediately mobilized with him and conducted a coordinated operation around Uratta and Umuchima Forest, aiming to apprehend the criminals and recover the stolen car. Efforts to track down the perpetrators and bolster security along the corridor are ongoing. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. The operation underscores the security challenges in parts of South-Eastern Nigeria as the military intensifies efforts to protect lives and property, according to an official army statement.
