Sanwo-Olu Says Lagos Is Targeting $1tn Economy by 2052, Calls for More Investment
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the state is working towards building a nearly $1 trillion economy by 2052 through sustained investment, infrastructure development and business-friendly policies. Speaking at a Lagos Executive Business Breakfast Meeting in Lekki, Sanwo-Olu said the Lagos Development Plan 2052 contains 447 initiatives across 21 sectors. The plan focuses on economic growth, human-centred development, modern infrastructure and effective governance. He highlighted the Blue and Red rail lines, the Lekki Deep Sea Port, digital connectivity, healthcare, education, electricity reforms and support for small businesses as key parts of the state’s long-term strategy. He added that Lagos’ budget has risen from about ₦700 billion in 2019 to ₦4.2 trillion in 2026. The governor urged investors to see Lagos as a base for production, innovation, regional trade and global investment, rather than only a consumer market.
