Open Letter to Tinubu: Nigerians Need Relief Beyond Independence Day Speeches
As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence anniversary, I am asking President Bola Tinubu to listen directly to ordinary Nigerians facing rising costs of food, transport, housing, electricity, healthcare and school fees. Families are struggling to survive, while many young people cannot find meaningful work. Economic statistics and promises mean little to parents who cannot feed their children or to workers whose salaries no longer last through the month. I urge the government to make the welfare of citizens its priority. Nigerians need affordable food, jobs, security, healthcare, education, reliable electricity and accountability in public spending. Independence should be felt in people’s daily lives through dignity, opportunity and hope. Nigerians are not asking for miracles; they are asking for leadership that understands their burdens and acts to ease them.
