UAE Orders Probe After Flydubai Flight Is Diverted Over Cockpit Altercation

The UAE Attorney-General has ordered an investigation into an incident involving Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The aircraft was diverted on Wednesday and landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after an altercation reportedly occurred in the cockpit. Flydubai said crew members intervened to secure the aircraft. Specialised prosecutors are working with the UAE’s civil aviation authority and other agencies to establish what happened. Investigators will also examine whether the incident involved prior planning, direction or any terrorist intent. UAE authorities said they have jurisdiction because the aircraft is registered and operated in the country.
