Opinion: Tinubu May Face Legal Scrutiny After Leaving Office, Writer Argues
I remember the earlier court dispute over the disclosure of U.S. records and the argument that releasing them could cause “irreparable damage.” In my view, this remains a major issue because President Bola Tinubu currently has constitutional immunity while in office. I believe any allegation connected to the records should be addressed through due process, not political pressure or speculation. If credible evidence of an offence ever emerges, the proper courts and law-enforcement authorities should determine whether charges are warranted after his tenure. The wider question is whether political power can delay accountability. For me, the case has continued to fuel public debate about transparency, foreign legal records and the limits of presidential immunity.
