Gombe Medicine Seller Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of 14-Year-Old Girl

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Gombe has arrested a 64-year-old medicine seller over the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl in Arawa Quarters. The suspect reportedly confessed during questioning that the incidents occurred on three occasions after the girl visited his shop to buy medicine. The girl’s mother reported the matter after learning that her daughter had been at the shop late at night. NSCDC spokesperson Saad Buhari said the case would be charged to court after investigations are completed. The agency said the alleged offences violate the Gombe State Penal Code and Child Protection Law.
