Flag Foundation Urges Nigerians to Honour Green-White-Green on National Flag Day
The Flag Foundation of Nigeria has urged Nigerians to treat the green-white-green flag as a symbol of shared identity, unity and hope. Marking Nigeria National Flag Day on 16 September, the group said the green represents the country’s land and natural wealth, while the white stands for peace and unity. It called on citizens to look beyond ethnic, religious, political and regional differences. The foundation said it has promoted awareness of the flag for more than a decade through its Flag for Schools programme. It asked government agencies, schools, traditional institutions, civil society, businesses and the media to encourage proper respect for the national symbol. It also called on Nigerians to support efforts against insecurity, corruption, terrorism, banditry and kidnapping, stressing that building a safer and more united country is a shared responsibility.
