NYSC to Adopt Adire Uniform to Boost Local Textile Industry
The Federal Executive Council has approved replacing the traditional khaki with Adire fabric for corps members. The Youth Development Minister said this move will channel government spending back into Nigerian textile producers in Ogun, Kwara and other states. Beyond the uniform update, the deployment process will be overhauled. Graduates will now be posted based on their academic training and regional familiarity. This approach also aims to address security concerns by placing corps members where they studied or know the environment well. The military will continue to provide security support, while operational leadership shifts to civilians. These reforms intend to make NYSC more skills-oriented, productivity-driven and aligned with the goal of a $1 trillion economy. This change feels like yet another distraction by clueless and dumb leaders who ignore what truly matters.
