NAF Releases Names of 25 Victims of Ondo Military Aircraft Crash
The Nigerian Air Force has released the names of the 25 people who died when a military aircraft crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The victims included five crew members and 20 passengers. The aircraft was travelling from Benin to Lagos on a routine mission when the accident occurred. Search-and-rescue operations were activated with relevant authorities, but no survivors were found. The Chief of the Air Staff has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the crash. President Bola Tinubu also declared three days of national mourning and directed that flags be flown at half-mast nationwide. The victims were Squadron Leaders MI Aburime and AP Man-Ugwueje; Flight Lieutenants IS Bako, TL Lazarus and M Akinloye; Flying Officer IM Adeshina; Warrant Officers Abubakar A and Nuhu FS; Master Warrant Officers Onwuka F and Matini BA; Flight Sergeants James RB and Mohammed AI; Sergeants Ani AE, Izibenikien SI, Alafuka C and Mbadugha AN; Lance Corporals Ugwuba FC and Eledan GE; Mrs Ezeh Nneka; Godstmine Tarabina; Joy Micheal; Sunday Micheal; Ukeme David; and Gideon Omotola.
