Kwara Police Deny Shooting Motorcyclist During Ilorin Stop-and-Search

The Kwara State Police Command has denied reports that officers shot a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Abdurasaq Lukman, during a stop-and-search operation in Ilorin. The claim emerged after a video circulated online alleging that Lukman was shot around Oyun Bridge. Police said the incident occurred during a routine patrol on the road leading to Kwara State Polytechnic. According to the command, Lukman was riding at high speed when he collided with Corporal Saka Azeez, leaving the officer with head injuries and a fracture. Police said Lukman sustained minor injuries, was treated and discharged, but remains in custody while investigations continue. The command said no one was shot and that both men were taken to a medical facility after the incident. Corporal Azeez is reportedly still receiving medical care.
