Armed Kidnappers Raid Mowe Sand Site, Kill Five Including Soldier
In the early hours of Monday, June 8, a group of gunmen launched a commando-style attack on a dredging site in Magbon Etido, Mowe, Ogun State. Their target was a prominent sand miner known as “Kapo.” Security personnel guarding the miner fought back, but the firefight left a soldier and four others dead. Four civilians were also kidnapped during the raid. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the fatalities and said one of the abducted victims has been rescued. The remains of the other three were later recovered. Authorities have boosted security in the area and assured residents the situation is under control.
