Mikel Obi: NFF Chiefs Must Resign After Back-to-Back World Cup Misses
Mikel Obi has bluntly called Nigeria's failure to reach the 2026 World Cup a “disastrous campaign” and demanded that Ibrahim Gusau and the entire NFF board step down. Nigeria has now missed consecutive tournaments for the first time since 1994. Despite world-class talent like Osimhen, Lookman, and Iwobi, poor leadership, fractured federation politics, and a lack of cohesive strategy have left the Super Eagles stranded. Fans have grown weary of empty promises about “learning” and “rebuilding” when each defeat costs millions in FIFA grants and sponsorships. Nigeria cannot compete with rising African powers like Morocco while its own football blueprint is broken. The time for excuses is over. For the sake of national pride and future generations, the NFF chiefs and coaching staff must take responsibility and resign immediately.
