Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, arrested four men during an intelligence-led operation at Darusa Village Market in Gudu LGA, Sokoto State, on August 6, 2026. The suspects were reportedly intercepted while attempting to sell livestock believed to have been rustled. Troops recovered six cows, two mobile phones and ₦165,000 during the operation. Military sources said preliminary findings link the men to, or suggest they may have collaborated with, the Lakurawa terrorist network, which is associated with cattle rustling and other crimes in Sokoto and neighbouring states. They remain in military custody pending further investigation and transfer for prosecution.
