Rivers United players have received a $2,000 bonus from the club’s management after their 1-1 away draw against FC San Pedro in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie in Côte d’Ivoire. Club administrator Christopher Green said the reward recognised the players’ determination and commitment. Rivers United fell behind after the break, but Douglas Iyowune equalised soon afterwards to secure an important result ahead of the return leg. The Pride of Rivers will host FC San Pedro in Uyo on Sunday, with qualification for the next round at stake.
