Convoy of Anambra Chief of Staff Ambushed, Two Policemen Killed
On May 31 at about 7:46 pm, unknown gunmen ambushed the convoy of Anambra State Chief of Staff Dr. Ben Nwankwo along Amansea-Ufuma Road. Two policemen were shot dead, while Dr. Nwankwo escaped unharmed. Anambra Police Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu convened an emergency security meeting at the State Command Headquarters. He gave all units 48 hours to track down and arrest those responsible. Orutugu described the assault as a direct attack on state authority and vowed it would not go unpunished. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind this violent attack and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
