Bakare: Nigerian Leaders Act Like ‘Termite Kings’ Consuming the Nation

Pastor Tunde Bakare has criticised Nigerian leaders who, he says, behave like “termite kings” focused on consuming public resources instead of building a country that future generations can inherit. Speaking at the presentation of his three-volume book series, *Strategic Intervention in Governance*, Bakare said nation-building requires unity of purpose, a stronger constitutional foundation and leaders willing to make sacrifices for the common good. The books compile 104 speeches delivered between 2008 and 2025. He also blamed years of poor investment and the legacy of structural adjustment policies for the decline in public education. Bakare called for greater investment in young people, vocational training, enterprise, innovation and technology, urging Nigerians to take responsibility for rebuilding the country.
