Enoch: The Man Who Walked With God
Enoch appears briefly in Genesis 5, yet his life carries a remarkable testimony. He was the son of Jared, father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah. Unlike the other names in the genealogy, Scripture does not end his account by saying that he died. Genesis says Enoch walked with God for 300 years after the birth of Methuselah. Hebrews 11:5 explains that he was taken so that he would not experience ordinary death, adding that he had the testimony of pleasing God. Enoch’s story presents walking with God as a life of faith, fellowship and obedience. Jude also describes him as a prophet who warned of God’s judgment against ungodliness. His brief account remains a call to seek God faithfully and live in a way that pleases Him.
