Chief Imam’s Concern Led to Discovery of Former Senator Bello Mandiya’s Body, Ningi Says
Senator Abdul Ningi says former Katsina South lawmaker Bello Mandiya was found dead in his Abuja residence about 72 hours after he was last seen. According to Ningi’s account during Senate plenary, Mandiya had returned home on September 4 and was preparing for Friday prayers when he reportedly slipped and hit his head after leaving the bathroom. His absence from prayers for three days reportedly concerned the Chief Imam of Apo. Residents later noticed a foul smell from the apartment, forced the door open and found him lifeless in the bathroom. Ningi said the incident was a sobering reminder that political office and wealth do not shield anyone from life’s uncertainties. Mandiya, who represented Katsina South in the Senate from 2019 to 2023, died aged 62.
