Lagos Residents Join Monthly Cleanup as Government Warns Against Indiscriminate Dumping

Lagos First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Head of Service Olabode Agoro and Environment Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab joined residents for the July monthly sanitation exercise in Ibeju-Lekki and Badagry. The First Lady praised residents of Eputu London for starting their cleanup days before the official exercise. She said the strong turnout, including schoolchildren, showed growing awareness of the need for cleaner neighbourhoods. She added that tertiary institution students are expected to join future exercises. Wahab said the state is improving waste-management facilities, including projects at the Olusosun site. He urged residents to avoid dumping refuse in drains, road medians and public spaces, and to report failed waste collection services to LAWMA. He said enforcement may be applied where necessary.
