Nasarawa Government Urges NSUK ASUU to End Strike, Promises Arrears Payment
The Nasarawa State Government has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, to suspend its strike. It says it remains committed to paying outstanding earned allowances. The government says it has already made an agreed payment and expects the union to return to lectures. However, ASUU is seeking a written commitment on how the remaining arrears will be paid in instalments. NSUK alumni say the prolonged strike is disrupting students, admissions and preparations for accreditation of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. They warned that the university could lose a long-awaited opportunity if the dispute is not resolved quickly.
