American Actor Samuel Monroe Jr. Dies at 52 After Meningitis Battle

Samuel Monroe Jr., the American actor known for roles in 1990s Black cinema, has died at age 52 after a prolonged illness involving meningitis and MRSA pneumonia. He began his film career in the 1993 cult classic Menace II Society and later appeared in Tales from the Hood, Set It Off, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood and The Players Club. He also featured in television shows including Moesha and The Jamie Foxx Show. Monroe had reportedly been hospitalised since April. His condition later required life support, dialysis and multiple brain surgeries after complications affected his brain and spine. He is survived by his three children.
