Oven vs Air Fryer: How to Make Baked Potatoes With Crispy Skin
Both an oven and an air fryer can give baked potatoes a fluffy centre and crisp skin. For either method, wash and dry the potatoes well, prick them with a fork, then rub lightly with oil and salt. Avoid wrapping them in foil if you want the skin to stay crisp. Bake medium potatoes in an oven at 200°C for about 60 to 90 minutes. An air fryer at 200°C usually takes 35 to 50 minutes; turn the potatoes halfway through. The potato is ready when a knife or skewer passes easily through the centre. Choose an air fryer for one or two potatoes when speed and lower electricity use matter most. Use an oven when preparing several potatoes or cooking a larger meal. Serve hot with butter, beans, cheese, tuna mayonnaise or any topping you enjoy.
