Tinubu Convenes Urgent Security Summit with Service Chiefs and IGP Disu
President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door security meeting with service chiefs and IGP Tunji Disu at Aso Rock. The nearly two-hour session was the first since Disu’s swearing-in on February 28, 2026. The chiefs arrived without official vehicles, making them hard to identify. This summit followed Defence Minister Christopher Musa’s call for a military overhaul after three commanding officers were killed in Borno State. ISWAP militants attacked Kukawa LGA for 24 hours and struck communities in Doro, Mafa, Baga, and Konduga. In response, the Nigerian Air Force killed over 50 terrorists in airstrikes on Ngoshe and Gwoza. At a recent Iftar dinner, Tinubu vowed, “Nigeria will not bow to insurgents.” He has now summoned all top military and police commanders to back those words with action.
