Edo Assembly Elects Yekini Idiaye as New Speaker

The Edo State House of Assembly has elected Yekini Idiaye, who represents Akoko Edo Constituency I, as its new Speaker. Idiaye's emergence followed the resignation of former Speaker Blessing Agbebaku, which was formally announced during plenary on August 17. The sitting was presided over by Deputy Speaker Osamwonye Atu. Sunday Ojiezele, representing Esan South East Constituency, nominated Idiaye for the position. Eric Okaka of Owan East Constituency seconded the nomination. After taking the oath of office administered by the Clerk of the House, Idiaye assumed leadership of the Assembly.
