Goodness Is Not Protection: Why Boundaries Matter
Recent experiences have reminded me that we cannot always know people’s intentions at first meeting. Being kind, calm or generous does not guarantee that others will treat us the same way. That is why I believe everyone needs clear boundaries. I have seen people make reckless choices with money, health and relationships, then expect others to carry the consequences. Helping people should not mean abandoning your own needs or becoming a doormat. Give within your capacity, respect others, and protect your peace. Safety also requires common sense. Be careful with your belongings in public, make responsible health decisions, and do not assume appearance or religious claims reveal someone’s character. Attraction is not a substitute for learning who a person truly is. Because you did not harm anyone does not mean everyone will treat you well. Stay kind, but stay alert. Know when to forgive, when to say no, and when to walk away.
