Court Warns Sowore: Bail May Be Revoked, Arrest Warrant Looms
Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has threatened to revoke the bail granted to politician and online publisher Omoyele Sowore. The judge said he would issue an arrest warrant if Sowore fails to attend the next hearing. The warning followed an application by the prosecuting lawyer, Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN), who noted that Sowore and his legal team missed the court date despite being duly served with hearing notices. Sowore is being prosecuted by the Department of State Services for allegedly defaming President Bola Tinubu on social media. Justice Umar acknowledged this was Sowore’s first absence and granted a final adjournment to March 16, ordering a fresh hearing notice to be served.
