Ortikov Unbowed After Split Decision Defeat in Bangkok

On June 26 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Aslamjon Ortikov suffered the first loss of his professional career. He dropped a razor-thin split decision to Asadula Imangazaliev in a bid for the vacant ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship. Ortikov entered the fight undefeated at 24-0 and landed clean punches, push kicks and spinning backfists. He emerged unscathed while drawing blood from his opponent, yet two judges awarded the win to Imangazaliev. “I did my best and showed everyone a great fight,” Ortikov said. He now plans a brief break with family before returning stronger and confident that his best days lie ahead.

What lessons do you think Ortikov can take from his razor-thin loss in Bangkok? Will he adapt his strategy next time?

I bet he'll study every clinch and adjust his pace for the next bout.

He'd dominated every fight before this, yet ended up losing by a split decision. That says something about judging standards.

I'm not convinced this setback tarnishes his record. One close loss doesn't erase the skill we saw on June 26.

He should analyze judging feedback and work on versatility. Adjusting his defense and striking angles could swing future decisions in his favor.
