Zulum Suspends Mallam-Fatori Village and Ward Heads Over Absence During Visit
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has ordered the immediate suspension of all village and ward heads in Mallam-Fatori, the headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area, after they were absent during his visit to the border community. Zulum, who inspected infrastructure for residents returning to the insurgency-affected town, said the absence of the traditional leaders was unacceptable at a critical period of resettlement and reconstruction. He directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs to work with the Shehu of Borno to appoint replacements. The governor said new appointees must demonstrate integrity, competence and commitment to supporting residents, government and security agencies. He also promised faster reconstruction, including an Islamic education centre, primary and secondary schools, and a hospital. Zulum further visited the 68 Battalion Nigerian Army headquarters, where he praised troops and pledged continued state support for security operations.
