Canada Relocation: Why ₦8m–₦12m May Be Enough to Start a Skilled Immigration Plan

If you are a Nigerian professional planning to relocate to Canada, do not assume you must save ₦25 million for the student route before you can begin. Some direct immigration pathways do not require international school fees, but your work history, education, language score and eligibility are more important than your bank balance. For Express Entry under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, applicants must show settlement funds unless they qualify for an exemption. The required amount is lower than the cost of studying in Canada, but receiving an invitation can be highly competitive without strong age, education and language points. The Atlantic Immigration Program may have lower settlement-fund requirements because it is employer-driven. However, applicants must first obtain a genuine full-time, non-seasonal offer from a provincially designated employer in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland and Labrador. Never pay for a job offer or LMIA, as this can lead to refusal and a possible misrepresentation ban. Before spending heavily, assess your skilled work experience, educational credential assessment, language test results and ability to secure a legitimate job offer. Verify all requirements and current fund figures directly with Canada’s official immigration authorities, as rules and exchange rates can change.
