Kenyan Presidential Candidate Says He Would Prioritise Local Firms Over a Dangote Refinery
Kenyan presidential candidate Patrick Osoi says he would prioritise local businesses over foreign investors in the country’s refinery sector if elected. Speaking at a campaign event, Osoi told Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote not to rush into establishing a refinery in Kenya. He said his proposed administration would back Kenyan entrepreneurs and build local capacity for refinery operations. Osoi also claimed that Kenya already has refinery facilities and businesspeople capable of managing such projects. The remarks did not confirm that Dangote has announced a refinery project in Kenya.
