Bingham Medical College Marks 20 Years, Produces 911 Doctors
Bingham University College of Medical Sciences says it has produced 911 doctors since starting operations in 2006. The milestone was announced during the College’s 20th anniversary celebration. The College began at ECWA Theological Seminary in Jos before moving to its permanent campus in New Karu, Nasarawa State. Preclinical training is conducted in New Karu, while clinical training takes place in Jos through Bingham University Teaching Hospital. The institution said it has expanded beyond Medicine to programmes including Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiography, Optometry, Anatomy, Physiology and Public Health. It also plans to strengthen research, clinical-skills training and the use of artificial intelligence in medical research. Speakers at the event highlighted the need to improve working conditions, postgraduate training and career opportunities for health professionals as Nigeria continues to face a shortage of doctors and other medical workers.
