Abandoned at 17: My Journey from Abuse to Single Motherhood
I was 17 when I discovered I was pregnant by a colleague and my family left me in his care as punishment. They never came back. My childhood was marked by abuse. A neighbour molested me and a family friend raped me at 16. I carried shame and self-blame for years. At the factory, I met Andrew. He forced me into a hotel room and I became pregnant. His family blamed me and treated me cruelly. I suffered hunger, sickness and gave birth alone. After a year of hardship, I returned home. Andrew tried to reappear, but I blocked him. Today I work and plan to enter nursing school. I refuse to let stigma define my daughter or me.
