Has Yahoo Culture Helped or Harmed Nigeria’s Economy and Social Values?

Do you think the Yahoo culture has helped or harmed Nigeria’s economy? In my view, its impact has been largely negative, especially on housing costs and lifestyle expectations. Some landlords raise rents far beyond what many ordinary workers can afford because some internet fraudsters are willing to pay inflated prices. I also think it has made many relationships more transactional. In some cases, money is exchanged for attention, status and lifestyle support, making genuine relationships harder to find. On the other hand, Nigeria’s economic hardship raises another question: if internet fraud did not exist, would more young people turn to armed robbery, drug dealing, prostitution or other violent crimes? I believe the country would be better without the Yahoo culture, but I want to hear other views. Has it worsened the economy and social values, or has it displaced other criminal activities?
