Oyo Kidnapping: Should the FG Bomb Hideouts to Free Pupils?
Daniel Bwala, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, has ignited debate by asking if the government should bomb suspected kidnappers’ camps in Oyo State. More than 39 pupils and seven teachers abducted on May 15 in Oriire LGA remain in captivity after over 50 days. One teacher was killed, heightening fears for the remaining hostages. On The Morayo Show, Bwala stressed that rescuing the victims alive must be the government’s top priority. He warned that military strikes could endanger them, though he admitted tougher measures might be needed if more captives are harmed. Efforts to negotiate the hostages’ release have stalled, forcing Nigerians to weigh the risks of a military operation against the urgent need to bring the children and teachers home.
