The rescue of the Oyo schoolchildren and their teachers relieved Nigerians. We thank God they returned alive and commend our security agencies for their efforts. The Federal Government said victims were freed through a multi-agency operation, with suspects arrested and kidnappers neutralised. A rescued teacher, however, said the abductors released them and showed them the way out of the forest before they met security personnel. If both accounts are true, Nigerians deserve a clear picture of what really happened. Here are 11 questions for the Federal Government: 1. Did security forces physically free the hostages, or were they released by the kidnappers first? 2. If the abductors released them, what prompted that decision: military pressure, negotiations, or other factors? 3. Who are the eight suspects the government says were arrested? 4. Were the three men recently sentenced to life among those eight, or were they arrested separately? 5. Who held the victims captive for 56 days, and have all captors been identified? 6. Which kidnappers were neutralised, and have they been officially named? 7. Why has no photo or video evidence of the operation—like weapons or camps—been released? 8. Was the forest camp located after the operation, and if so, why no imagery of it? 9. Were any exhibits recovered (weapons, bikes, devices, supplies), and why haven’t they been displayed? 10. If some abductors were killed, when and where did this occur relative to the rescue? 11. Will the government publish a detailed timeline of the kidnapping, intelligence gathering, rescue, arrests, and prosecutions? These are not allegations but calls for transparency that would boost public confidence and honour our security personnel. What do you think?
