Kebbi Man Convicted Over Facebook Post Linking Commissioner to ADC
A Kebbi Upper Shari’a Court has convicted Salim Abubakar, also known as Shekare, after he pleaded guilty to publishing a Facebook graphic that allegedly portrayed the state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abba Sani-Kalgo, as a member of the African Democratic Congress. Abubakar was charged with forgery, defamation and conduct likely to breach public peace. Prosecutors said he created and shared the graphic using the commissioner’s name and photograph alongside the ADC logo, then circulated it on other social media platforms. The court reserved sentencing until September 18 to allow submissions on the appropriate punishment. Abubakar was remanded in a correctional facility pending judgment.
