Cornell Suspends Fraternity Parties After Drugging and Sexual Assault Allegations
Cornell University has suspended parties and social events at Interfraternity Council houses for the rest of the 2026–2027 academic year after allegations that a woman was drugged and sexually assaulted at a fraternity house in 2024. University President Michael Kotlikoff said any fraternity that breaches the restrictions will face immediate suspension. He acknowledged what he described as a deeply troubling prevalence of alcohol and drug abuse across the campus community. The woman, identified in court papers as Jane Doe, has sued seven fraternity members over the alleged October 2024 assault. Cornell says it will involve independent investigators in sexual-assault cases, expand survivor support and review its policies.
