Sanwo-Olu Charges LJLA Fellows to Turn Leadership Training Into Public Impact
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged graduates of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy to use the skills and experience gained during their fellowship to drive positive change in Nigeria. At the academy’s graduation and induction ceremony in Ikeja, 30 fellows from the 2024/2025 “Class of Catalysts” received certificates, while another 30 fellows were inducted for the new fellowship year. The governor said the academy was created to connect young Nigerians’ leadership ambitions with practical opportunities in public service. Sanwo-Olu said the academy is intended to remain a lasting Lagos State institution beyond his administration. He added that more than 16,000 applications were received for the incoming cohort and stressed the need for clear pathways that allow trained young people to contribute within government and other institutions. Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat encouraged the fellows to adapt to technological change, learn continuously and lead through measurable impact. Academy officials also urged the new cohort to treat the fellowship as a responsibility to serve society.
