Bible Verses I Believe Challenge Jehovah’s Witness Teachings

This thread examines Bible passages that I believe challenge several Jehovah’s Witness teachings. Jehovah’s Witnesses teach that their doctrines come directly from the Bible, but I argue that some interpretations do not hold up when the passages are read in their full context. I will also discuss passages in the New World Translation that I believe have been worded in ways that support specific doctrines. Some of these verses were addressed in an earlier discussion on Bible translation and interpretation, and will be revisited here. My main concerns are the use of selected verses without wider context and the idea of “new light” when teachings or policies change. I will present the relevant passages as the discussion continues.
