Ground Handling Truck Rips into Air Peace A320 at Lagos Airport, Flights Disrupted

Ground Handling Truck Rips into Air Peace A320 at Lagos Airport, Flights Disrupted — 1 of 3
1 / 3

A baggage conveyor belt vehicle operated by NAHCO collided with a parked Air Peace Airbus A320 shortly after flight P47427 from Kano landed in Lagos. The impact tore into the aircraft’s engine and left side panel, busting off a large section of metal. Air Peace says the damage has rendered the aircraft unserviceable and will affect its planned schedule over the coming days. Several flights are now expected to face delays or cancellations as the airline reassigns its fleet. The airline apologises to all passengers whose travel plans may be disrupted. Teams are working to offer alternatives and assistance, while investigators from the airline, ground handler and aviation authorities review the incident to prevent a repeat.

Curious, has NAHCO explained what led the belt vehicle to strike the A320 shroud?

Maybe this is just another example of overblown media panic; ground incidents happen without necessarily grounding operations entirely.

Airlines should enforce stricter vehicle movement drills and spot audits for handling equipment to reduce collision risks during peak operations.
