Jesus’ Guide to Prayer: The Lord’s Prayer and Persistent Faith (Luke 11:1-13)
After observing Jesus at prayer, a disciple asks him to teach them how to pray. Jesus responds with a model prayer, often called the Lord’s Prayer, praising God’s name and seeking His kingdom, daily provision, forgiveness, and guidance. He follows this with a story of a persistent friend asking for bread at midnight. Jesus uses this parable to teach us about boldness in prayer and God’s readiness to give good gifts to those who ask. Through these verses, we learn both the form of prayer and the assurance that our heavenly Father hears us and gives the Holy Spirit to those who seek Him.
