Onitsha Council and FirstPower Partner to Improve Inland Town Power Supply
The Obi-in-Council of Onitsha Kingdom met with FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company at the palace to address persistent power challenges in Inland Town and neighbouring areas. FirstPower’s MD explained that technical constraints, meter bypasses and unpaid bills are slowing service improvement. He stressed that accurate customer data, metering and community cooperation are essential for stable supply. The company’s engineers outlined plans for a dedicated feeder line and network upgrades. They also called on residents to support enumeration and fair billing to ensure transparency and cost recovery. Council members pledged to form a community electricity committee to liaise with FirstPower. Both sides agreed on ongoing collaboration to deliver reliable power to the Inland Town axis.
