Bride Price Paid, But My Wife Refuses to Cook – Husband Appeals to Oyo Court

Ayinla told the Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan that he paid N2,000 as his wife’s bride price but she has since stopped cooking for him. His wife, Mosunmola, countered that he neglected his home duties and led a reckless life, often returning late at night. Mosunmola said she bore the children’s needs alone and endured frequent beatings. After years of quarrels and separations, she left the marriage and asked the court for custody of their children and for Ayinla to fund their welfare. In response, Ayinla agreed to dissolve the marriage, accusing his wife of disrespect and claiming her talkative nature was intolerable. He urged the court to reject her claims and noted she moved out first. The case was adjourned by Mrs. S.M. Akintayo for judgment.
