FG Unveils FreeTV Platform, Offering Over 100 Subscription-Free Channels
The Federal Government has launched FreeTV, a new national digital television platform. Viewers can now access over 100 channels without paying monthly subscription fees. This initiative aims to expand access to quality broadcasting across Nigeria. FreeTV will offer news, entertainment, sports, educational and cultural programs at no recurring cost. Officials say FreeTV is part of efforts to deepen digital inclusion and accelerate the country’s transition to digital broadcasting. It is expected to benefit low-income households and underserved communities. The platform also creates new distribution opportunities for local content producers and broadcasters. After initial setup with a compatible digital TV set or decoder, all channels will be available free of charge.
