Ogidi Residents Protest 22-Year Flood Nightmare, Demand Urgent Govt Intervention

Residents of Ogidi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State marched through submerged streets after days of heavy rain flooded homes, shops and the old Onitsha–Enugu road. They say the community has battled devastating floods for over 22 years. Frustrated youths blamed overflowing drainage channels and a massive runoff pit that collects water from four neighbouring towns. Many families have lost properties worth millions of naira as waterways burst their banks. Protesters called on Governor Soludo and President Tinubu to step in with lasting solutions. His Royal Majesty Igwe Alexander Uzodinma Onyido, also affected by the inundation, pledged to engage authorities on finding a permanent fix. Commuters now avoid the corridor to escape being stranded.
