Osun Police Unveils Violent Crime Response Unit and Civilian Oversight Committee
In line with the Inspector-General’s directive, the Osun State Police has launched a Violent Crime Response Unit to tackle armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and other violent offences. Officers will operate under the Nigeria Police Act 2020 and international human rights standards. They are undergoing intensive training on human rights and emotional intelligence. CSP Ademuwagun Jeremiah has been appointed as the unit’s commander. A civilian oversight committee, including the Police Community Relations Committee, will monitor the VCRU.
